Resident stylist Sian is back with some ideas of how to look your best, should someone ask you to go Ice Skating over the winter season!  While I’m away exploring the Aussie summer, Sian will also be testing out some winter date ideas in London, so watch this space for her write-ups!

Ice Skating Date – Look Number One

Ice skating is a great option for a first date and you’re not short of options around this time of year! I will be reviewing the ice skating and Christmas market at Canary Wharf for 30 Dates very soon so will be taking my own advice on this one!
A bold printed cardigan or coat is a great starting point for an outdoors date outfit. Since you’re going to be wrapped up against the cold, you may as well do it in style and this little number from Topshop gets top marks for how to make your coat the standout feature of your outfit. As this is such a bold item, the key is to keep everything else simple. Jeans are a practical option but wearing them high waisted with a cropped jumper creates a more striking look. The cropped jumper is the perfect colour to go with monochrome, it adds a warmer tone to the outfit and is a popular colour for autumn winter. Besides the skates you will be rocking with this outfit, black boots are always the perfect go to for a winter date outfit, this pair are casual enough for every day wear but the heel means they can take you onto a restaurant or bar. Lastly, a fedora is a great way to complete this look, the gold detail adds a nice element and a hat is always a stylish winter accessory!
Ice Skating Date – Look Number Two

This outfit is a really girly look for a winter date. I love skirts and jumpers with cosy thick tights and you can easily transform this into more of an evening look by taking off the tights, just make sure you have some moisturiser in your bag!
This skirt is a fantastic option as it’s a great shape with the slight flare at the bottom, perfect for a slightly more active date but the stiff material means it won’t fly up round your neck if you fall over on the ice! The jumper is great for the festive season, the slight rose gold shimmer is bang on trend and is a bit more glamorous than a normal knitted jumper, again meaning it’s smart enough to go out to dinner or drinks in. With a winter skirt outfit I always think a longer length coat works best and this textured cocoon coat from H&M is a popular trend this season. I like the fact that the sleeves are cut off to show a flash of the jumper cuffs. A scarf is a wardrobe staple for this time of year and this gorgeous fur number from ASOS screams glamour and really adds a luxurious element to the look while keeping you nice and toasty.
Now you’re probably starting to see a theme here with the black heeled ankle boots but they really are the perfect footwear for this time of year! This pair are slightly pointed at the toe and are a lovely suede material which work perfectly with the skirt. Lastly, you don’t want to be clutching onto a bag while trying to keep your balance on the ice so go for a smart cross-body bag like this one from Mango, it’s a nice size to fit everything you need in and the handle can be clipped off to transform it into a clutch bag which makes it brilliantly versatile.
